Can you cultivate the Inner Power to shift victimhood, blame, and shame?
Yes, you can! And the Power lies within you right now!
I know this from personal experience. As a child, I was dyslexic and placed in special education. I felt worthless and ashamed. I blamed others for my problems: my parents, teachers, and classmates. I pointed out their mistakes so people wouldn't overlook mine.
But deep down, I knew that I was something worthy inside. I longed to teach and communicate, even when I felt shut down and isolated. I would go into my basement, line up my stuffed animals, and start teaching them. I would take long walks and act like I was performing for the world. No one would predict that I would become a special ed school teacher. But I did!
This is where my Power lay: in my uniqueness and inner longing. When I cultivated my uniqueness, I brought forth the Power to overcome victimhood, blame, and shame. I was able to shift from being a victim to being a creator. I was able to design a life that had meaning and purpose.
Here are three questions that can help you tap into your inner Power:
- What did I enjoy doing before people told me I couldn't do it?
- What am I good at?
- How am I unique?
The answers to these questions will give you insight into the Power that lies within you.
There are three components to shifting into your Power:
1. The belief that we all have purpose and meaning. We are all spiritual beings having a human experience. We all have a unique reason for being here.
"The universe is not outside of you. Look inside yourself, everything that you want you already are."
- Rumi
2. The belief that our uniqueness is connected to our purpose. Our uniqueness is a gift that we can share with others. It is something to be celebrated, not ashamed of.
"The only way to be truly unique is to be yourself."
- Albert Einstein
3. The willingness to use our uniqueness to help others. When we focus on helping others, we shift from a victim mentality to a creator mentality. We become part of the solution, not the problem.
"The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others."
- Gandhi
To overcome victimhood, blame, and shame, start by cultivating your inner Power. Believe in your purpose, embrace your uniqueness, and use it to help others. Being unique is a superpower. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. When you do this, you will find the joy and meaning you have been searching for.
"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment."
- Ralph Waldo Emerson.
